SPC Floor Construction Precautions:
Expansion Joints Reservation in SPC Floor Paving
Why should expansion joints be reserved for SPC floor paving?
SPC floor is composed of high polymer polyvinyl chloride and calcium powder as raw materials through layer optimization processing. It possesses certain properties of heat expansion and cold contraction. Therefore, when laying the SPC floor, reserving the appropriate expansion space can prevent a lot of troubles in the later stage.
1. Prevent Floor Deformation
Due to the different regional climate differences, in relatively humid areas, reserving a certain expansion space for SPC floor paving can effectively avoid the mutual extrusion deformation caused by wet expansion in a long-term humid environment.
2. Prevent Empty Drums
In a relatively dry environment, combined with the actual paving situation, reserving about 2㎜ of expansion space helps to reduce the impact of the surrounding environment on the use of SPC floor and then prevent the emergence of problems such as drums and suspensions.
3. Extend the Floor's Service Life
The wet expansion and dry contraction of SPC floor is an inevitable natural phenomenon. By following this characteristic and reserving a reasonable expansion space, it can ensure the free expansion of the SPC floor and then extend its service life.
Where Are SPC Expansion Joints Reserved?
1. At the Threshold
The connection position of the threshold is usually the intersection of two different spaces. An appropriate expansion gap should be reserved. The natural transition from the SPC floor to other materials through the buckle strip is simple and generous, avoiding the formation of arch or extrusion problems.
Not only does the expansion joint need to be reserved at the connecting place of the two spaces, but also a certain expansion gap needs to be reserved for the splicing of SPC floor and other floor decoration materials such as tiles and cement.
2. At the Intersection of the Closet
The closet is usually closely connected to the wall, but its structure is more complex than the ordinary wall, so there will be some "corners". The connection with the SPC floor also requires more attention to the reservation of the expansion gap.
